Please read the following paragraphs carefully before filling out our online membership application.

When screening new applicants, the Senior Staff at Milwaukee Area Paranormal Investigations looks for certain qualifications and traits  to assure that our  standards are maintained within the group as a whole.

Many people wishing to join an investigation have a genuine interest in the paranormal.  These people have a strong desire to witness  paranormal activity, but often times they lack the necessary discipline or skills to properly understand the science and theories beyond the investigation. While having an interest in this line of study is the basis for many groups, M.A.P.I. requires more from our team than simply having an interest in the paranormal. We need members with specific skills, educational or vocational backgrounds, and expertise in certain fields that can assist us in furthering our research and achieving our mission statement.

M.A.P.I. is serious about what we do, and we expect each of our members to adhere to set standards. We have an established set of protocols which we take into the field and utilize during all investigations. These protocols are continuously being improved upon, with new standards being introduced as we deem necessary.

To date, M.A.P.I. has members and affiliates with backgrounds in psychology, quantum physics, journalism, environmental sciences, electricians, as well as other skilled trades.  While we are not professional (paid) paranormal investigators with degrees in parapsychology, we are also NOT a hobby group with members who interact solely through email or bulletin boards for the express purpose of sharing stories and desires to visit allegedly haunted sites for a thrill. Most, if not all of the locations we investigate are private homes and businesses. These people who ask for our assistance want to be confidant that the investigators entering their property have actual knowledge in their prospective fields and can clearly articulate  possible explanations for what they have witnessed or experienced, that are based on scientific principals and data , rather than  mere assumptions.

Our work is not always fun or pleasant, nor do not have high-end expensive equipment (yet). In reality, the majority of what we do is rather dull. Evidence analysis, historical research of past events, people, and buildings take up a good deal our time. Actual on-sight  investigations make up a small percent of our actual investigation.  There will be times when you go through a site and record no abnormal readings or data at all. You will have to sift through  endless hours of  video and audio tape looking for positive evidence, only to find nothing remotely paranormal in nature. And quite frequently you may observe seemingly unusual events, only to find a completely mundane explanation such as leaky water pipes, mice in the walls, or faulty electrical wiring.

These standards to which we uphold are self-admittedly, a bit steep. Our members' past history with paranormal events and the professional manner in which we approach such is quite important to us. We enter each potential investigation  with the utmost respect, discretion, and objectivity as possible.  Each individual on our team represents the entire group as whole. When experiencing a potential paranormal event we need to observe, record, and report our findings, and then re-examine as much scientific data and background information as possible.

In addition, we ask that all potential applicants are at least 21 years of age, do not possess a criminal or felony history (we will run a background check), have experience working in a team setting, own or have access to investigative equipment (or be willing to purchase your own), act in a mature and responsible fashion under stressful circumstances, and be open minded and accepting to different views (and cultures) that may be out of place for you.

On the other end of the spectrum, we are not seeking individuals you merely want "to see a ghost" or get spooked, are abusers of alcohol or other controlled substances, are not serious or committed, or who refuse to work under a chain of command.

It should also be noted that selecting individuals from our list of applicants is a group effort. Because we work as a closely knit team, everyone must get along, or in the least, be accepting of each other's differences. The first "interview" primarily involves seeing how one interacts with our current members. It doesn't matter how skilled or knowledgeable a person is if they are unable to socially interact within the confines of our group. We will be honest... it takes a special person to be accepted into our group.

If you feel you meet our guidelines, please complete our online application. A member of our team will contact you shortly.  UPDATE... We are redoing things a bit around here. Read the News & Updates to see what changes are being made and to learn how to apply.

Please note: Due to scheduling and work constraints, all contact will be made via email unless otherwise requested.
